Dissolution and entropy are thematic ideas that every modern artist is drawn to at one point or another, and the transitory nature of matter itself implies that anything and everything created is prey to both physical and emotional entropy. Jason Levesque's Paint Job is an almost cruel take on this motif. The female subject with its back turned to the viewer appears to be hastening her literal disappearance, as if caught up in the negative ecstasy of self-annihilation. That MIGHT be an erroneous presumption, of course. The artist is noted for his keen appreciation of the biological sciences, and it's possible that his true intent here was to link our minds to the positive and hopeful notions of change and re-birth.
