Every so often, you get the opportunity to work on a bit of a dream project. Working in the poster realm, I’ve been lucky enough to work with some truly great bands, and for that i am thankful.
As it happens, this is the second time I’ve had chance to do work for one of my favorite bands, Mogwai. It’s a been a few years since i did a poster for them, and i wasn’t likely to turn down another opportunity.
While on honeymoon last year, myself and my wife listened to a lot of Mogwai (some musical common ground). We spent our time on the Isle of Skye, and the place is pretty amazing. Since returning I wanted to some how incorporate some of the sights and landscape into my work (which i have on several occasions). While we were there we walked out to the most westerly tip of the island, to the abandoned lighthouse at Neist Point. The place is isolated, desolate, and utterly beautiful.
I managed to get some shots that ended up being the basis for this poster…. minus the giant Owl Spider Witch, that is purely a work of fiction.
