Led by drummer and composer Mike Reed, Chicago’s People, Places & Things offer a fresh take on the city’s jazz legacy and it’s future by taking brilliant and forgotten music written in Chicago in the 50′s and 60′s and recontextualizing it. This poster was commissioned for their upcoming European tour. During the time that we were asked to make this poster, our friend Christoph Fischer, a Lucerne, Switzerland based illustrator, was living in Chicago documenting some of the city’s forgotten areas as part of the Lucerne-Chicago sister cities artists in residence program. Inspired by People, Places & Things collaborative Chicago-centric approach, Nadine and I thought it would great to work with Christoph’s wonderful documentary-style drawings of Chicago for the poster.
