Painted live to the New Riders of the Purple Sage at the Rock N Roll Resort on 04/02/11 for the NRPS Brunch
So I did a little walking around the resort when I woke up in the morning. The sun was shining and good vibes were pretty plentiful and flowing as corny as that may sound. Random musicians would sit down at the piano in the reception area where all the vendors, including myself, were set up, so it was quite a relaxed, creative and abundant atmosphere.
There was a mini golf course behind the resort that kind of begged for looking into. I saw some dreads floating around the general vicinity and heard merriment and laughter. I also saw a sculpture of AN ELEPHANT and a giraffe on the course. The prior night, two other live painters had set up in between the Manhattan and Empire Lounge and had created quite a work. It consisted of a giraffe and a woman balancing upside down on a small platform...quite interesting synchronicities indeed.
So I walked towards the course and as the building stopped impeding my view, I realized a horse was rearing back on the small green play course as well. I decided right then that I wanted to put a horse in my NRPS painting at the brunch. Getting to paint for those guys was a long time coming. People were milling around before start time and getting food...Phanart Pete was there with friends and everyone looked pretty pleased and expectant. Right before I started, I looked over the canvas and saw Captain Toast, who locked eyes with me and gave me this knowing wink as if to say, "Here you are, kiddo."
If you flip it upside down, you can see the horse. I have included both positions for your enjoyment. I also may continue working on this. The New Riders of the Purple Sage commented, "Nice!"
