Here is an original Shepard Fairey poster, donated by Shepard in support of Witness Against Torture, a grassroots organization dedicated to shutting down Guantanamo and ending torture. In 2007, Shepard donated a set of these POW-USA prints to WAT as we prepared to mark the 6th anniversary of the US opening Guantanamo for indefinite detention and torture.
Now, as Witness Against Torture prepares to mark the 9th anniversary - the prison is still open despite President Obama’s pledge to close it - with 11 days of demonstrations and vigils in Washington DC (Jan 11-22, 2011), Shepard has agreed to let WAT sell some of the posters as a way to fund the campaign.
Therefore, you have a chance to buy an original Shepard Fairey print, on heavy stock, while also supporting Witness Against Torture’s important work. These posters are not signed and numbered in the way that posters sold on his site are; these are the actual posters that he gave to WAT for use in the campaign. They are 18" x 24" and in mint condition. They will arrive in a sturdy mailing tube via insured US mail.
