The poster is a 2 color serigraph on French speckletone paper printed by the master craftsmen at D&L Screenprinting in Seattle, WA. There are two versions that differ only slightly in the paper color used. I printed the primary edition of 101 pieces on off-white speckletone, and then a smaller edition of 57 pieces on a sandy tan speckletone for a slightly antiqued look. Less than half of the tan version edition will be available at the show.
I titled the poster "K2CO3" which denotes the chemical formula for potassium carbonate, the primary substance found in potash. I took inspiration from the song "Ten Cent Pistol" and in particular Dan's revelation in a recent interview that the eponymous pistol refers to a cup full of potash mixed with charcoal and heated in a furnace to produce a caustic liquid capable of burning. The title comes from a slang term for a cup of this substance thrown at someone to disfigure them.
I've had this engraving of a woman (originally a fairy) for a while, and I've always wanted to cast her pleasant expression within a malevolent situation. Her serene quality makes anticipation of the violence she's plotting all the more terrifying (like Asaji's calm countenance in "Throne of Blood"). Her jealousy and wrath might seem like an overtly passionate response to her man's infidelity, but her course of vengeance seems so cold and calculating. It's not grabbing a gun out a drawer and running to retaliate in the heat of the moment. She has to take time to prepare her weapon, mixing it and heating it. She has to take time to wait behind a door for her man and his fling to arrive. It seems an endeavor that requires a steady hand and a patient though raging heart. Hopefully that's what I've managed to convey with this assemblage.
