This poster was made for the very last "Electric on the Eel River," but the show was not held on the Eel River at French's Camp where it had been for years. Because Humboldt County would not approve the permit as a result of poor traffic planning by the promoter - the event was moved south to Mendacino County, specifically the Black Oak Ranch, in Laytonville, CA. (aka Wavy Gravy's Hog Farm) This "Electric Off the Eel" event would later evolve into Wavy Gravy's annual Hog Farm Pig-Nic held every Labor Day weekend for years afterward. This poster is extremely rare and only two are known to exist.
The bands that played the "Electric Off the Eel" event are: Country Joe McDonald, Clan Dyken, Zero w/Steve Kimock, Pele Juju, Stevie B & the Hornets, Nick Gravenites & Pete Sears, Barry Melton Band, Rod Deal & the I-deals, Burnt Toast, The King Bees, and others.
