First off, the new A.F.I. / Coheed & Cambria / Thursday poster. This is a screenprinted piece, measuring around 22 x 18 inches. The imagery includes 'Gavin', a cute little lop-eared bunny that Iv'e created...and 'Squire'. Squire is the pig-boy creature in the image. I first saw Squire in an old ad from the 1930s back in my teens, and then again, about a couple of years ago, on a concert flyer. The artist of the concert flyer had basically taken this advertisement from the 1930's and re-appropriated it. Originally, the little pig-boy character advertised baker's yeast: the implication of the ad was that this yeast made folks healthy and 'plump'...like a little hog.
Well, I saw possibilities in this character. I 'named' him, made a few changes to his appearance, and began constructing a story around him. Obviously, he's an 'influence' on our cute little bunny rabbit. Poor 'Gavin' is about to do something: let's hope it's nothing 'bad'.
You'll see Squire again...
