About

Gos, François-Marc-Eugène (November 11, 1880-1975)

Gos was born in Geneva, the son of Swiss landscape artist Albert Gos. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva, and would later work and study in both Paris and Munich at the beginning of his career.

Gos's landscape paintings were widely exhibited throughout his career, but he is also known for his famous travel and advertising posters. Gos was a passionate alpinist like his father and illustrated many definitive books on the alps including “La Flore Alpine Decorative” and “Zermatt et sa Vallee.” Many of his works remain in major museums throughout Switzerland.
