Meyers was an early to mid 19th Century magazine illustrator born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Meyers worked for Crowell-Collier publications in New York City. He studied at Tulane University and the Art Students League with Harvey Dunn.

Spending most of his life in New York, Meyers became a collector of antiques; in particular armor, which he frequently used in his illustrations.
