| + | Greg Oakes was born in Winnipeg on the 21st of March 1973, and spent most of his years in Good ol' Transona (a District of Winnipeg). He has a wide range of influences, from Bugs Bunny, The Muppets and Mad Magazine, all the way to Robert Crumb, Brian Froud and HR Giger. He is also a huge fan of jazz music and is rather fond of the diverse nature within the college radio scene. Greg is a 1993 Graduate of Red River College's ‘Advertising Art’ program, and has worked professionally as an "illustrator/graphic designer" ever since. Over the years he has created an eclectic mix of print media illustrations and designs (billboards to product ID labels). Greg also is a live performance artist and has been sketching "caricatures" (@bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, company parties, etc.) well over a decade now. Up until very recently Greg’s day job for the last 5 years has been that of internal Upholstery Product Designer (sofas, chairs…) for Canada’s largest furniture manufacturer Palliser Furniture Ltd. Greg is currently attempting to network and build up a portfolio of his artwork for the commercial “illustration/cartooning” industry. |
