Imaginative characters and fantastic worlds are created in the work of Roco Drilo. Originally from the city of Querétaro, Mexico, influences of Latin American Culture, folklore, traditional Mexican art, graffiti, pop art, and comics live in the roots of of Roco’s work.

Roco explores the relationship humans share with nature and the greater universe told by anthropomorphic characters in dream-like, fantastical words through watercolor, enamels, acrylic, inks, and murals. In these images, Roco reimagines historical and new traditions across cultures though a combination of texture, color, and intricate details.

As a Querétano passionate about art, he has exhibited his work in various group exhibitions throughout Mexico including Arca Galeria and Gamma in CDMX, Museo de la Ciudad in Queretaro, Galeria Bernardo Quintana UAQ. After an opportunity to stay in Minneapolis, Roco discovered a new appreciation and understating of Latin-American culture. This sparked an exploration of traditional folklore and graphic style that now defines much of his contemporary work. In the United States, Roco’s work has been featured in the Mexican Museum of Art in Chicago, Gamut Gallery in Minneapolis, and Kent University in Ohio. Roco has collaborated with brands Don Julio Tequila, Vans, Surly Brewery, Cerveza Minerva, Dark Matter Coffee, and more. Roco Drilo currently resides and works in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco.
