Description from Jeff Wood:

I was contacted by PHISH in 2004 to do posters for several shows. I worked up this particular piece to present along with several others. I really liked it when it was done, it was my favorite of the designs I submitted to PHISH. PHISH Dry Goods thought it was great also, but a little too "Ethnic Tribal" for any of the shows they had left on the tour (which was about 5 at the time). Amused that the print I thought was the best of the bunch had gotten the boot, I then worked up the Camden Bridge print and stuck this piece of art back to use on another project down the road.

When EB approached me about doing a print for the series, I thought this would be the perfect avenue to finally get this piece into the people's hands I had originally designed it for, the Phish poster collectors. I called the piece "Rapa Nui Dreams,The Missing Link" as it was the only design I presented to PHISH that they did not approve for production. So I dropped the PHISH lettering from the design for the EB print and took it to press. It turned out amazing. I think PHISH missed out on a great print, and I'm extremely happy that it will be my piece in the EB series. It just seems appropriate for this particular poster.

This piece's conceptual illustration was my submission for the Frank Kozik book "Panda Meat". So, it's been published in a great book of my peers' work also. Let's just say that this piece is special to me. It's also my favorite of the designs I submitted to PHISH and this EB print run is roughly 1/10th the size the standard 1000pc Dry Goods run. I like the fact that the edition is so small.

The design is loosely based on a carving on the back of an Easter Island Tiki. I love doing aboriginal/tribal/native/primitive style art and I went ape on this one. Amazingly, it's only a 5 color screen print, but I acheived the exact look I was going for. It is very rich and textured with lots of little details. The entire black background is a hand drawn collage of fish and the entire piece is detailed in metallic gold.
