13" x 22" hand embellished lithograph with archival inks on archival paper signed edition of 200. Created specifically for Art Prize. Price is $45.00 each.

“Remission” is an art film inspired by the actual experiences of the artist with his struggle, loss, and redemption as a combat veteran adjusting to civilian life; his war after the war.

Filmed in more than 15 locations throughout Southern California, “Remission” employs formal filmmaking techniques paired with a unique storytelling style and a focus on creating beauty uncommon in video art. It features vibrant handmade creature costumes and breathtaking visuals of the California landscape; from Death Valley to Sequoia, each shot is carefully composed as if a painting. The elaborate handmade creature costumes represent the protagonist’s emotional journey through the struggle towards redemption. The culmination of these techniques creates an immersive experience evoking the sense of a deep longing to be restored and return home.

Directed and Written by John Charter. John is a film director and native of northern California currently living in Los Angeles.

Production Design, Written by, and Costumes by Paul Kaiser. Paul is a fine artist and native of Hastings, Michigan currently living in Los Angeles.
Paul participated in Art Prize One 2009 at KCAD with large scale hyperreal drawing.
