Poster created by Christopher Wool and arranged into an 8 inch stack by Felix Gonzalez-Torres

In collaboration with Felix Gonzales-Torres, Christopher Wool created this poster featuring Wool's characteristic lines of closely packed text. Drawn from Russian philosopher Vasili Rozanov’s work on nihilism, the poster reads: "The show is over, the audience get up to leave their seats, time to collect their coats and go home, they turn around, no more coats, no more home." Wool had used the phrase in a previous billboard work, but created this accompanying poster to support the Printed Matter bookshop in New York. Founded by Sol Lewitt, Lucy Lippard and other artists, the non-profit book shop has sold artists' publications since 1978.

The edition size of the work is unknown, as visitors to the shop were allowed to take a poster from an eight inch stack as arranged by Felix Gonzalez-Torres. The image has been featured at MoMA PS1 and the Larry Gagosian Gallery in London.
