From Ravi – I recently had the opportunity to visit the new home and studio of Mike Giant who incidentally has an unbelievable art book library. This print is partly inspired by that visit and by his art.
It is also a small component to some of the larger paintings in my upcoming show. One of the paintings depicts the Hindu god Shiva who I have covered with these tattoos. All of the images on this sheet and on his skin are elements from the mythology of his story, character and iconography.
The style is loosely inspired by the Sak Yant Thai, Cambodian style tattoos and also that of the old fashion, American and Russian prison tattoos.
