"This print is based on a painting that I did in 2014, as part of the 'Mantradala' Series - exploring the connection between art and meditation. For this print, I really wanted to capture a sense of depth, which is something I'm constantly trying to achieve with my work. I've always been fascinated by optical illusions and color theory, so this is really the beginning of that exploration.
'Om Mani Padme Hum' - 'Behold! The Jewel in the Lotus,' is the six syllable mantra that I used for this print. It is an invocation to the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara, who is also referred to as 'the Protector', making this a mantra for protection as much as it is for compassion and healing. This is the same mantra you'll find on the inside and outside of Tibetan prayer wheels, prayer flags, rocks (mani stones) and is considered the most well-known mantra in Buddhism." - Cryptik
