I’ve been making a print using gold powder each year for a while now. The gold powder comes from Cornelisson & Son in London; and it turns out that the same shop also sells silver powder too. Every year the gold edition sells out very quickly, so in a probably futile and pointless way to ameliorate this ‘problem’ i’ve decide to print an edition of another arboreal environment using silver powder.
Again, a vaguely disturbing scenario, with an almost invisible figure moving through the trees, towards you, the spectator, the viewer… the witness.
As with the gold print (aurum arborealis) there are eleven layers that make up this print.
Nb. I don’t know why there is a figure in the distance; i don’t know why i did it, i don’t know what it represents; at least, not consciously. I did honestly consider making this picture with no figure in the background. But i could not help myself. If it’s any ‘consolation’, earlier versions of this picture had a much more terrible form lurking in the shadows.
