Here's what the man himself has to say about this design:
"This was an idea that first was a skateboard graphic for a Minneapolis brand called Roots Skateboards. A version of it later became a 3 part series of board graphics for Consolidated Skateboards. It's a pretty natural idea - skateboards come from trees, kids love skateboards, adults love skateboards, that tree could have just as well dropped a skateboard to that little kid... and maybe it did."
